PANORAMIC RADIOGRAPHY:
PRINCIPLES AND INTERPRETATION

Welcome to the panoramic radiography module, which is divided into three sections:

Section1:
This section will introduce the principles of Dental Panoramic Tomography and describe the steps in acquiring a panoramic radiograph on a patient.  Possible errors in patient positioning and their consequences will be demonstrated.  Upon completion of this section, test your understanding with a short quiz.

Section2:
This section will present the anatomic structures of the jaws as they are imaged on a panoramic radiograph.  The hard and soft tissues will be illustrated and the principle of ghost shadow production will be introduced.  An interactive quiz follows.

Section3:
This section will guide the learner through the process of recognition and identification of various common variations and anomalies as they present on panoramic radiographs.
